Google and MySpace Make A New Ad Deal

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) and News Corporation (NASDAQ:NWSA) has struck an advertising deal. This ad deal is a renewal of the $900 million deal that the two companies had that expired this past fall. But the terms are much different than before.

News Corp. Is Acquiring 90% Of Wireless Generation For $360 Million

News Corporation (NASDAQ:NWS) is acquiring 90% of Wireless Generation for $360 million in cash. Wireless Generation is a Brooklyn based company that creates education technology for teachers. Wireless Generation will continue to operate independently after the acquisition. Wireless Generation has about 400 employees and they server over 200,000 teachers. About 3 million students use Wireless Generation in all 50 states. Rupert Murdoch said that they are making the purchase because education in the U.S. is a $500 billion sector. [paidContent]

Myspace.com has announced that they have created a partnership with Facebook called Mashup. Mashup allows MySpace users to create a stream of entertainment content based on their Facebook interests.

The Rubicon Project Acquires Fox Audience Network

The Rubicon Project is an ad optimization company based in Los Angeles, California. The company has raised $18 million in funding and they acquired the Fox Audience Network (FAN). After this round of funding, it brings The Rubicon Project’s total funding to $60 million.

The New MySpace Launches [SCREENSHOTS]

MySpace is relaunching a new design of their website today and is rebranding themselves with a new logo. The complete redesign will not be live until the end of November but there are screenshots of the new look floating around. MySpace is trying to appeal to the 13-35 year old audience and is aiming to become “the leading entertainment destination that is socially powered by the passions of fans and curators.” MySpace currently does not have the best reputation as of right now so I could see why they have a high interest in overhauling their entire look.
