Apple iPad May Replace NFL Play books, Saving 5,000 Pages Of Paper Per Game

Pete Walsh, the head of technology for the NFL Dallas Cowboys, said that his team and a couple others are considering replacing play books printed on paper with the Apple iPad. This could end up saving 5,000 pages of paper printouts per game. It may be difficult to convince coaches to replace the traditional play books in favor of a glossy screen gadget. One of the league’s primary concern is security. How would it be handled if an iPad with intellectual property football plays end up in the enemy’s hands? Would remotely wiping out the data be good enough? Walsh reports to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. [CNET]

Tila Tequila
Tila Tequila, best known for her MTV show “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila” started her career as being a popular MySpace user.  She then transitioned into a power Twitter user.  She currently has over 242,000 followers on Twitter and has almost 4 million MySpace friends.

Tequila reported on her MySpace page that she was in San Diego, but she apparently called the police to inform them that NFL San Diego Charges player Shawne Merriman assaulted and choked her.  Merriman denied the claim. Tequila wrote on her Twitter profile “The truth will set you free…..God is with me” since the incident took place.

Tequila signed a citizen’s arrest and was later transferred to a hospital.  Merriman was taken into custody by the police based on suspicion of battery and false imprisonment.  Tila Tequila also known as Tila Nguyen reported on Sunday that she was home safe again.

Merriman’s lawyer Todd Macaluso said that Nguyen was “extremely intoxicated and inebriated” during the incident and that Merriman tried to arrange her to leave the house.  Since the incident, Tila has not been tweeting much.  Ian Corbin of CelebrityTweet said that he is not surprised because a legal team is probably telling her not to say much.

Chad Ochocinco is not letting the man hold him down from live tweeting during NFL football games.  The National Football League has decided that if players are caught tweeting during games, they will be financially penalized.  But Ochocinco has came up with a way to still tweet during games without touching Twitter himself.

During a Ustream broadcast, Ochocinco said that he will be launching a contest in which he will fly one of his followers every week to a Bengals game.  He will then give the follower hand signals.  The hand signals will indicate what he wants the follower to tweet for him.

This sounds like a great deal for Ochocinco’s followers.  Not only will they be able to attend a football game, he will also be given a ticket to the game, and will get to hang out with Ochocinco himself. Below is a video of Ochocinco making the announcement:

The training camps have opened up at the National Football League and one of the rules spreading around is that if players use Twitter, they will be fined.  For example Green Bay Packers players were told that if they texted or sent out tweets during team meetings or coaching sessions, then they will be fined.  The Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said that Twitter is completely banned for all their players.

“I don’t have an account,” stated Dolphins player Jason Ferguson in an interview with The New York Times. “I was thinking about getting one until I got the information. O.K., won’t get it now. Can’t do it. I don’t want to get fined, not yet.”

Coaches are worries that sending out tweets could lead to the wrong message around injuries, game plans being made, and other confidential information.  Coach Sparano told his players that tweets would be used by the media and would cause distractions.

Minnesota Vikings QB Bernard Berrian made a joke about his teammate Tarvaris Jackson being injured for the season because of a sprained knee ligament.  That joke spread far and wide.  New York Jets Jay Feely actively uses Twitter, but only sticks to discussing politics instead of football or his career.

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has come up with an idea for a movie.  Payton is very serious about the idea that he hired Hollywood agents to help find representation for the movie.

The movie will be about a magical XBox that has the ability to control actual NFL football games that a boy plays.  The magical refurbished XBox was given by the boy’s grandfather.  The working title of the movie as of right now is called “The XBox Kid.”  This movie could be a major plug for Microsoft.

It would not surprise me to see Microsoft become heavily involved in the project as well.  Other movies that involve Microsoft include Pirates of Silicon Valley, Nothing So Strange, and The Gates-trix.
