The forecasted sales of the new Wii U gaming console dropped by around 70%, which is causing the company to strongly consider their position in the gaming market. Report: Nintendo needs to sell 8 million Wii U consoles by March to reach 9 million goal

There is a report floating around that Nintendo needs to sell 8 million Wii U consoles to reach their 9 million goal by March. This means that they have to sell around 2 million consoles per month. This goal seems rather unrealistic based on past sales figures. Nintendo has sold around 4.3 million consoles worldwide since launching over a year ago.

Nintendo Fan Website “Club Nintendo” Hacked, Nearly 24,000 Accounts Accessed

was hit with a hack attack in Japan over the last month.  Hackers were able to gain access to nearly 24,000 accounts that contained the real names, addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail information of their users.  “Club Nintendo” was targeted with mass login attempts using a list of logins and passwords that were likely obtained from a different service outside of Nintendo.  Nearly 15.5 million logins were attempted and 23,926 was successful.
