Pinterest, a social network that promotes content sharing through the use of virtual pinboards, announced a couple new features over the weekend. Pinterest has launched Pins with more information about various subjects like products, recipes, and movies. Another feature that Pinterest launched is a “Pin It” button across 9 mobile apps.
Pinterest has acquired Livestar, a mobile recommendations company that was started by former Microsoft employee Fritz Lanman. Lanman is also an angel investor in Square, Getaround, and Pinterest. The details around the acquisition was undisclosed, but it is believed that Pinterest was mainly interested in the talent behind the company. Livestar’s 3 engineers will be joining the company as part of the acquisition.
Pinterest, the social pinboard content website, has raised $200 million in a new Series D round of funding led by new investor Valiant Capital Management. Pinterest allows users clip and share their favorite videos and photos online through the use of virtual “pinboards.”

Pinterest, the pin-board social network has teamed up NBC TV show “The Biggest Loser.” Pinterest will be used to promote healthy foods and lifestyles. NBC will be creating instructional content that will appear on Pinterest and complement each episode every week.
Pinterest is currently in talks to raise a round of funding that would value the company at around $2-$2.5 billion according to The Wall Street Journal. The Wall Street Journal did not reveal the investors or the amount involved in the funding.
VSP Vision Care and Diane Von Furstenberg are partnering with each other on a Pinterest campaign. VSP will donate around 1,000 certificates for free eye exams and glasses to certain users that repine from their #PinToGiveAndGet board. Proceeds will be given to youth that are in need through the New York City Mission Society. This charity was chosen by Diane Von Furstenberg. Each giveaway is worth around $385, making the total worth around $385,000.
Pinterest has acquired recipe discovery website Punchfork. Punchfork started two and a half years ago and the company and the website will run for a short amount of time longer. However the Punchfork website, API, and mobile apps will be shut down soon.
