BlackBerry Curve 9350 Coming To Sprint For $49.99 On September 9

Earlier this week, Sprint announced that they will be launching the BlackBerry Curve 9350 smartphone which has the candy bar design, GPS, WiFi, 5 megapixel camera, and BlackBerry 7 operating system. The 9350 will be available on Sprint on September 9th for $79.99 with a two year contract. Sprint’s business customers may be able to buy the phone for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. BlackBerry Bold 9930 Smartphone Now Available On Verizon

Verizon Wireless is now selling the BlackBerry Bold 9930 by RIM. The BlackBerry Bold 9930 sells for $249.99 on contract. The 9930 is available online at www.verizonwireless.com and will be available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores on August 25th. The Bold 9930 is the thinnest BlackBerry smartphone so far as it measures at 10.5mm. The Bold is the first to integrate a touch display with a BlackBerry keyboard. Google’s Acquisition Of Motorola May Serve As A Wake Up Call For RIM

BlackBerry company Research In Motion Limited (TSE:RIM) will face an increase in pressure due to Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. RIM is now seen as a smaller rival compared to other mobile companies. This may force RIM to sell themselves or partner with another major company.

RIM Testing A QNX-Powered Phone Code-Named “Colt”

Research In Motion Limited (TSE:RIM) is actively working on getting their first QNX Realtime operating system mobile phone off the ground in time for the new year. The first phone is believed to have a dual-core processor. Rumor also has it that RIM is having a hard time getting QNX to work well with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software. Research In Motion Cuts 2,000 Jobs, Shuffles Upper Management

Research In Motion announced today that the company is making some big changes in their organization, including layoffs and shuffling upper management positions. Approximately 2,000 RIM employees from North America and a few other countries will be cut from the company. Street Insider reports that management changes include making Thorston Heins COO of products and sales, Patrick Spence becoming managing director of global sales and regional marketing, Jim Rowan stepping up as COO of operations, and more.
RIM Buys Video Editing Company JayCut

Research In Motion Limited (TSE:RIM) has acquired JayCut. The company JayCut is best known for designing the online video editor software by the same name as the company. RIM plans on using JayCut’s technology to improve the video editing experience on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. [UberGizmo]
BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Approved for Government Use

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has certified the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, and it’s now approved for US government use. RIM’s tablet is the first to receive the necessary certification to be used by the government, fulfilling the security requirements for an institution that handles extremely sensitive information. BlackBerry App World Hits One Billion Downloads

It took a bit over two years, but Research In Motion has hit a major milestone. The company has hit one billion downloads on the BlackBerry App World application store. The milestone was achieved between smartphones and tablets. It took about the same amount of time for the Android Market to hit the same milestone. RIM Announces 7 New BlackBerry Devices Are Arriving In Next Couple Months

At the recent shareholders meeting held by Research In Motion Limited (TSE:RIM), it was revealed that seven new BlackBerry devices will be arriving in the next couple months. RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie said that there will be several new devices launched “within rapid succession” next month. Three of the BlackBerry devices are expected to be the Bold 9900, the Touch 9680, and the Torch 9850. It is uncertain what the other four BlackBerry devices will be. [IntoMobile]
