Former Microsoft CEO and Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and his wife Connie have committed $25 million for COVID-19 relief. This commitment is coming on the heels of Ballmer’s $400 million deal for buying The Forum in Inglewood, California from New York Knicks owner James Dolan.

The $25 million commitment will be spread across organizations that need it across Seattle, Southeast Michigan, and Los Angeles. Of the $25 million, $10 million has been allocated for the University of Washington Medicine’s Emergency Response Fund. The commitment is being made through the Ballmer Group, which is a philanthropic run by the Ballmers.

The fund was set up following the initial outbreak of the coronavirus in the state of Washington. The commitment will be used for helping increasing testing, providing research in vaccines and diagnostics along with caring for vulnerable patients along with the clinical and administrative staff.

Steve Ballmer’s net worth is estimated to be over $57 billion as of this month, according to Forbes. Ballmer worked as CEO of Microsoft from 2000 to 2014. Prior to joining Microsoft, Ballmer was friends with company co-founder Bill Gates at Harvard.
