Socialcam’s fiercest competitor is Viddy. They have been fighting back and forth as the top Photo & Video app recently. Socialcam has reportedly surpassed the 20 million user mark. Instructure Raises $8 Million Series B Round of Funding

Instructure is a company that has developed an open source learning management system. Instructure has raised $8 million in Series B funding from OpenView Venture Partners, EPIC Ventures, Eric Schmidt’s venture capital company Tomorrow Ventures, and Tim Draper. Instructure raised a total of $9.2 million. Instructure’s software called Canvas includes assessment tools, discussions, web chat, multiple assignment submission types, drag-and-drop file uploads, HTML5 video, and speech-to-text conversion.

Ranker Raises $1.3 Million In Series A


Ranker is a consumer web services company that has raised $1.3 million in Series A funding led by Tim Draper. Other investors that are participating in this round include Rincon Venture Partners, Newport Coast Investments, Gil Elbaz, Pasadena Angels, and Siemer Venture Capital. Ranker uses lists to provide answers to questions to users, such as “what are the best beers from around the world?” Visitors can vote or rank the lists. Ranker had raised $1.8 million in two seed funding rounds with participation from several angel investors and Ranker founder and CEO Clark Benson. [TechCrunch]

RentJuice is a real estate community website where real estate agents and brokers can view real estate data. RentJuice raised $6.2 million in Series B funding led by Highland Capital and Tim Draper of DFJ. RentJuice automates administrative tasks for real estate professionals, brokerages, and landlords. RentJuice helps brokers capitalize on predictions that 10 million new renters will enter the U.S. market in the enxt 5 years. RentJuice was founded in 2009 by CEO David Vivero and CTO Kunal Shah.
