Vaurum receives $4 million in funding

Cryptocurrency company Vaurum is developing a high-performance Bitcoin exchange program for financial institutions that has raised $4 million in seed funding from Battery Ventures, Tim Draper, and Steve Case. Vaurum will be using the funding to scale its engineering team and build out its white-label platform for financial institutions.

Draper Fisher Jurvetson has raised $325 million for eleventh early stage fund

Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) has announced that they have raised $325 million for their eleventh early-stage fund called DFJ Venture XI. The DFJ Fund X was for $350 million and it closed in 2010.

Tim Draper Scales Back Role At VC Firm

Tim Draper is scaling back his role at Draper Fisher Jurvetson, the VC firm that he founded in 1985.  DFJ is known for investments in companies like Skype, Baidu, Tesla Motors, and Box.  Draper will not be an investment partner in the firm’s next fund.  However, he will be an investor in any new fund that the venture capital firm creates.

Local Services Marketplace Thumbtack Raise $12.5 Million

Thumbtack is a local services marketplace that has raised $12.5 million.  Javelin Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital led this round of funding.  MHS Capital and Draper Associates also participated in this round.  Sequoia partner Bryan Schreier is joining the Thumbtack board of directors.  The funding is going towards hiring additional talent and to grow the company.

Bislr is a marketing startup that makes it easier to run digital campaigns for small and medium-sized businesses.  The company has raised $3.5 million in a round of funding led by Southern Cross Venture Partners with participation from Tim Draper and Katrina Garnett.

isocket is a company that serves as a direct sales platform for premium online advertising.  isocket has received $8 million in Series A financing, led by Foundry Group. Costanoa is a new investor in this round and they are joining existing investors like Tim Draper of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Jeff Clavier (SoftTech VC), Accelerator Ventures, Quest Venture Partners, and Blumberg Capital.

Socialcam Raises Funding From 46 Angel Investors

Socialcam is an iPhone app that spun off of video sharing website Justin.tv last year as part of Y Combinators winter 2012 class. Socialcam has raised seed funding from 46 well known angel investors. Socialcam’s fiercest competitor is Viddy. They have been fighting back and forth as the top Photo & Video app recently. Socialcam has reportedly surpassed the 20 million user mark.
