Trimble Ranger 3 Rugged Computer Coming In February

Trimble has released a new rugged computer called the Ranger 3. This outdoor computer is intended for those that work in harsh work conditions like construction and forestry. The VGA display was designed in a way that makes it easy to read outdoors. The operating system on the computer is Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro and it meets the military specifications for ruggedness with an IP67 rating. The Ranger 3 also has a GPS, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, 8GB of flash memory, Cortex-A8 processor, 5 megapixel camera, and 1D laser barcode scanner. The device will be available next month.

Trimble is a company that puts together positioning products such as GPS, laser, and optical technologies.  Trimble recently announced that they have put together an ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) under their Yuma brand of products.

The Yuma UMPC has MIL-STD-810F and IP67 ratings.  The Yuma UMPC has a sunlight-readable 7 inch WVGA touchscreen.  It has a built in 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor with a 32GB SSD drive.  The Yuma UMPC has built-in WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, ExpressCard, and SDIO slot for expansion.  The UMPC also has two geotag-enabled cameras.
