A.Y. Strauss has appointed John J. Bono as Chief Operating Officer, adding an experienced law firm and financial services executive to its leadership team as the firm continues to expand its practices and operations.
Bono brings more than 25 years of experience in law firm management, financial performance, technology, operations, and strategic growth. In his new role, he will work closely with A.Y. Strauss leadership to oversee business operations and support the firm’s continued expansion.
Before joining A.Y. Strauss, Bono served as Chief Financial Officer and senior business executive at Barry McTiernan & Moore. In that role, he provided leadership across finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, facilities, administration, and firm operations.
He previously served as Global Director of Management Reporting & Analysis and Financial Systems at A&O Shearman, where he worked with executive leadership on enterprise reporting, financial planning, business intelligence, technology modernization, and strategic initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Bono held finance leadership positions at JPMorgan Chase and other global financial institutions.
His appointment comes during a period of significant growth for A.Y. Strauss. In 2026, the firm has added 15 attorneys and 12 business professionals.
A.Y. Strauss operates offices in Livingston and Hackensack, New Jersey, as well as New York City. The firm advises clients across commercial transactions and litigation, including real estate, construction, employment, cannabis, family law, environmental matters, corporate law, and bankruptcy.
The firm serves emerging businesses, institutional clients, and high-net-worth individuals across a range of legal and business matters.
Bono holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the City University of New York.
His addition gives A.Y. Strauss an executive with experience across law firm operations, financial management, technology systems, and large-scale organizational strategy as the firm continues to grow its team and geographic footprint.
