ABL Group announced it has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in SynergenOG, expanding the company’s specialist capabilities in process safety and technical risk management while strengthening its end-to-end technical offering to the energy sector.
Following the completion of the transaction, SynergenOG will be integrated into Longitude, the design and engineering division of ABL Group. The integration is expected to strengthen Longitude’s engineering services across all business lines and establish a technical center of excellence focused on process safety and risk management. The combined platform aims to improve safety, cost efficiencies, and operational performance throughout the lifecycle of energy assets, from concept design through late-life operations.
According to ABL Group CEO Hege Norheim, the acquisition builds on an existing collaborative relationship between SynergenOG and Longitude and reflects growing demand for integrated engineering and risk management solutions in the market. Norheim said the transaction brings SynergenOG’s specialist safety and risk engineering capabilities in-house, strengthens the company’s engineering footprint across Asia Pacific, and provides SynergenOG with a larger platform to expand its services across a broader range of energy markets.
Longitude, which has more than 35 years of experience supporting global energy and marine industries, employs over 220 project managers, engineers, and designers across 14 countries in Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The company specializes in end-to-end engineering and design projects involving facilities and subsea systems, marine operations, ship design, and offshore wind.
Puvan Balasubramaniam said the acquisition represents a strong strategic fit between two organizations that already collaborate effectively and share similar client-focused objectives. Balasubramaniam noted that SynergenOG contributes niche process safety expertise that enhances Longitude’s market offering, while the broader group platform provides SynergenOG with expanded global growth opportunities.
Strategically, the acquisition adds process safety and technical risk engineering services to ABL Group’s existing portfolio, including expertise in HAZIDs and HAZOPs. These services complement the group’s existing strengths in marine warranty survey, subsea operations, marine engineering, and offshore wind development.
The integration is also expected to strengthen Longitude’s facilities and subsea engineering operations, building on its growing asset integrity management capabilities while enabling the company to deliver fully integrated engineering and risk management services throughout the operational lifecycle of energy projects.
Jake Anderson said the addition of SynergenOG will help the company enhance its ability to reduce client risk and improve operational efficiencies through expanded expert safety and risk engineering capabilities.
The acquisition additionally expands Longitude’s Asia Pacific presence through a new in-country operation in Brunei, creating a strategic gateway into the Borneo region. SynergenOG employees are also expected to benefit from broader professional development opportunities within the larger organization, while clients will gain access to a wider multidisciplinary engineering network.
