Acron Technologies: Acquisition Of Alereon Expands Defense Communications And UWB Capabilities

By Amit Chowdhry ● Apr 17, 2026

Acron Technologies announced it has acquired Alereon, a fabless semiconductor provider specializing in ultra-wideband (UWB) solutions for the defense electronics market, strengthening its portfolio of advanced communications technologies.

Alereon is the official provider of the U.S. government’s Intra-Soldier Wireless (ISW) solutions, which enable cable-free, real-time communication between soldiers in the field. The acquisition enhances Acron’s capabilities in personal area networking, delivering low-power, high-bandwidth, and highly secure connectivity for mission-critical defense applications.

The integration of Alereon’s technology aligns with broader defense priorities to reduce reliance on physical cables, improve power efficiency, and enable seamless connectivity for warfighters. Alereon’s UWB-based systems allow for reliable short-range communication, including real-time video transmission, while operating below the noise floor to maintain a level of signal invisibility and reduce detection risk.

Alereon’s modules are certified by both NIST and the NSA, enabling rapid integration into sensitive defense systems. The company’s anti-jamming capabilities and ability to operate across a wide 8GHz bandwidth support multiple simultaneous networks, making the technology well-suited for complex and contested environments.

Acron Technologies said the acquisition supports its strategy of expanding across key defense technology areas, including resilient communications, assured positioning, navigation, and timing (APNT), advanced sensing, and integrated mission systems. The company continues to focus on investing in high-performance technologies that enhance operational effectiveness and mission readiness.

Alereon will continue to operate with its existing management, engineering, and sales teams, maintaining its product portfolio and brand identity as part of the Acron Technologies platform.
