Adaptive, a developer of custom trading technology solutions for financial services firms, has secured a strategic investment from global banking institutions Citi and HSBC to accelerate innovation in capital markets infrastructure.

The London-based company said the funding will support the expansion of its product development roadmap and scale its next-generation cloud-enabled front-office solutions built around its Aeron® technology platform. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.

Adaptive’s Aeron technology is an open-source framework widely used to build high-performance electronic trading systems that require high throughput, low latency and resilience. The company said demand for modular, cloud-native and open-source trading infrastructure is increasing as capital markets technology evolves and liquidity infrastructure migrates toward cloud environments.

The investment will allow Adaptive to accelerate development and delivery capabilities while expanding its portfolio of bespoke trading platforms used by financial institutions seeking to own and differentiate their technology stacks.

Founded 13 years ago, Adaptive has historically been self-funded. The company said the partnership with Citi and HSBC reflects growing collaboration between financial institutions and specialized technology firms to modernize market infrastructure and enable more scalable, resilient and customizable trading systems.

Adaptive operates globally with offices in London, New York, Barcelona, Montréal and Manila, providing technology platforms and consultancy services to financial services firms across asset classes.
