Adaptyv has raised $40 million in Series A funding to expand its automated laboratory infrastructure for agentic biology. Highland Europe led the round, with existing investors ACE Ventures, byFounders and Y Combinator increasing their investments.

Adaptyv is developing automated wet labs where AI agents can design biological experiments, submit them for physical testing, receive experimental results and use those outcomes for additional iterations.

The company recently demonstrated the model with Anthropic, allowing Claude to design proteins and send those designs into Adaptyv’s automated lab for experimental testing.

Adaptyv said its laboratory throughput has increased more than fivefold over the past year.

The company has also onboarded more than 100 customers spanning AI biology startups, pharmaceutical companies and other biotechnology organizations.

Customers cited by Adaptyv include Chai Discovery, Boltz, Roche and Novo Nordisk.

Adaptyv plans to double its team in Lausanne and open a new London office and laboratory during the fourth quarter of 2026.

The company’s longer-term objective is to create high-throughput experimental infrastructure that can keep pace with increasingly autonomous AI research systems.
