Adient announced that it has acquired an automotive seating foam production plant in Romulus, Michigan, expanding its manufacturing footprint in the Americas region.

The facility, purchased from Woodbridge, produces foam components used in vehicle seating systems for multiple automaker customers. The transaction includes the acquisition of the plant’s building and land, production equipment, inventory, and associated assets.

With the addition of the Romulus site, Adient now operates 10 foam manufacturing plants in the Americas and 30 globally. The acquisition is part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its vertical integration and enhance supply capabilities for automotive seating systems.

Employees at the Romulus facility will transition to Adient, with the existing collective bargaining agreement with the United Auto Workers remaining in place. The move supports continuity of operations while integrating the workforce into Adient’s global network.

Adient, which employs more than 65,000 people across 29 countries and operates approximately 200 manufacturing and assembly plants worldwide, supplies seating systems and components to major automotive OEMs. The company’s capabilities span design, engineering, and manufacturing across the full seat production lifecycle.

The acquisition reflects continued investment in manufacturing infrastructure within the automotive supply chain, as companies seek to enhance operational efficiency, maintain quality control, and meet evolving demand from automakers.
