Advanced Machine Intelligence (AMI), an artificial intelligence company focused on developing world model–based AI systems, announced that it has raised $1.03 billion (approximately €890 million) in funding from a global group of investors. The financing round was co-led by Cathay Innovation, Greycroft, Hiro Capital, and HV Capital, with participation from Bezos Expeditions, along with additional investors and angel backers from around the world.

The company said the capital will support its efforts to develop a new generation of AI systems designed to better understand and interact with the real world.

AMI is focused on building AI technologies centered on “world models,” a research approach that aims to enable artificial intelligence systems to construct internal representations of how the world works. By developing these models, the company seeks to create AI that can reason, plan, and learn continuously from interactions with its environment rather than relying only on static datasets.

According to the company, its systems are designed to incorporate persistent memory, advanced reasoning capabilities, and long-term planning functions while maintaining strong safeguards for controllability and safety. These capabilities are intended to enable AI systems capable of performing complex tasks in dynamic real-world environments.

The company said the funding will be used to accelerate research and development, expand engineering capabilities, and build out its global organization. AMI is currently assembling a team of researchers and builders and is operating across multiple international locations.

From its launch, the company established operations in Paris, New York, Montreal, and Singapore, positioning itself to recruit talent from major global technology and research hubs. The distributed structure is intended to support collaboration across different AI ecosystems and research communities.

AMI is also continuing to grow its team as it scales its research and engineering efforts. The company is recruiting scientists, engineers, and builders to support the development of its AI systems and broader infrastructure.

The company says its mission is to develop universally intelligent systems capable of understanding the world, maintaining memory across interactions, reasoning about complex situations, and planning actions in a safe and controllable manner.
