Adyen Nominates Former Klarna CFO Niclas Neglen As Chief Financial Officer, Effective February 2027

Adyen, an Amsterdam-based global financial technology company, has nominated Niclas Neglen as Chief Financial Officer and a member of its statutory Management Board, effective February 1, 2027. Neglen joins from Klarna, where he served as CFO, bringing experience in financial management, corporate transformation, and international financial services.

His appointment remains subject to regulatory and shareholder approval, including approval from the Dutch Central Bank and a shareholder vote at an Extraordinary General Meeting.

The nomination establishes Adyen’s planned leadership transition as the company continues developing its global payments and financial technology platform.

Neglen brings experience across financial technology, international banking, and large multinational corporations.

Most recently, he served as CFO of Klarna, gaining senior financial leadership experience at the international financial technology company.

Before joining Klarna, Neglen held the positions of CFO and Chief Operating Officer for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at HSBC Private Bank.

During his tenure, he led strategic corporate finance and operational transformation initiatives across the region, developing experience managing financial and operational requirements within a large international financial institution.

Earlier in his career, Neglen spent 13 years at General Electric, holding senior financial leadership positions across multiple global business units.

His career spans several different operating environments, including established multinational businesses, international banking, and high-growth financial technology.

Adyen’s leadership identified this combination of experience as relevant to the company’s next phase of development, particularly as it continues operating across international markets.

Pieter van der Does, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Adyen, said Neglen’s professional background aligns with the company’s current growth priorities and financial leadership requirements.

As CFO, Neglen will join Adyen’s statutory Management Board, subject to the required approvals.

The company’s Supervisory Board will formally propose his appointment to shareholders at an upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting. The company will publish the convening notice, agenda, and related meeting documentation separately.

The appointment also requires regulatory approval from De Nederlandsche Bank, the Dutch Central Bank.

Until Neglen assumes the role, Hwa Tsao will continue serving as interim CFO through February 1, 2027.

Following the transition, Tsao is expected to resume his responsibilities as Senior Vice President of Group Finance, maintaining continuity within the company’s financial organization.

Adyen confirmed that the leadership announcement does not change its existing financial objectives.

The company provides a global financial technology platform that combines end-to-end payment capabilities, data-driven insights, and financial products within a single solution.

Its technology is designed to help businesses process payments across multiple markets while providing access to transaction information and financial services.

Adyen serves major international companies, including Meta, Uber, H&M, eBay, and Microsoft, operating through offices around the world.

The company’s international operations create financial management requirements spanning multiple jurisdictions, currencies, regulatory environments, and customer markets.

Neglen’s experience at HSBC Private Bank, Klarna, and General Electric provides a background in managing financial operations across these different types of organizations.

His appointment is intended to support Adyen’s continued development while maintaining its established financial strategy.

The company has not announced a specific date for the Extraordinary General Meeting at which shareholders will consider Neglen’s nomination.
