AeroFarms, an indoor vertical farming company and the leading U.S. supplier of fresh microgreens, announced that it has been acquired by an affiliate of Palm Ventures. The transaction closed in April 2026, and financial terms were not disclosed.
The acquisition positions AeroFarms for long-term growth, expanded distribution, and improved financial flexibility through a significant reduction in debt. The company will continue operating as a Certified B Corporation while focusing on sustainable growth and profitability.
As part of the transaction, Gustavo Burger was appointed chief executive officer. Burger previously held leadership positions at Kraft Heinz and Anheuser-Busch InBev and now leads a new management team.
Palm Ventures said its investment was driven by confidence in AeroFarms’ proprietary aeroponic technology, its leadership position in the rapidly growing microgreens market, and increasing consumer demand for nutrient-dense and sustainably produced foods.
AeroFarms grows its products at its vertical farming facility in Danville, Virginia. The company’s growing system uses 230 times less land and 90% less water than conventional field farming. Its soil-free and pesticide-free microgreens are available in approximately 2,000 retail locations nationwide.
According to the company, its microgreens contain four to forty times higher levels of select vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients than mature vegetables, depending on the variety, and provide an 18-to-21-day shelf life.
Founded in 1992, Palm Ventures is a family investment office based in Greenwich and Austin that focuses on acquiring and building mission-driven businesses with long-term growth potential.
