Casey Hite’s Background

Casey Hite

What is Casey Hite’s background? Hite said:

“When I was younger, I had a natural curiosity for business, and I feel incredibly fortunate that my family encouraged me to explore it. At just 10 years old, I found myself tracking local fishing tournaments, waking up at 4 am to catch live bait, and finding a way to sell it to the fishermen. It was a small start, but it taught me the value of hard work and creative thinking. By my early teens, I was helping run my father’s jet ski business, learning lessons that still shape my approach to business today.

After college, I took a sales job with a goal of saving enough to start my own business by 25. Around the same time, my brother Don, who had a wealth of experience in operations, found himself at a crossroads in his career. Together, we took a leap and started Aeroflow. In the early days, we didn’t take a paycheck for three years, relying on credit cards, our 401(k) savings, and a few loans to keep us afloat. Looking back, those sacrifices were just small pieces of the bigger journey, and we’re so grateful for every step we’ve taken along the way.”

Formation Of Aeroflow Health

How did the idea for Aeroflow Health come together? Hite shared:

“It was truly a moment where timing, need, and opportunity all aligned. But what stands out most to me is how we approached the breast pump industry within the DME marketplace. My team and I saw an opportunity during a challenging time, when Medicaid competitive bidding was significantly lowering rates and affecting service capabilities. At the same time, the Affordable Care Act introduced preventative benefits, including coverage for breastfeeding support and supplies. I saw this as a chance to make a meaningful impact on healthcare by connecting directly with consumers, educating them about their options, and offering products tailored to their needs.

The idea for this program actually came from an employee suggestion, which reminds me how important it is to foster an environment where everyone, no matter their title, feels empowered to think strategically and share their ideas. We allowed the breast pump business unit to operate like its own independent company—giving them the freedom and flexibility to thrive. This approach helped the team stay agile, quickly respond to market changes, and, most importantly, take an employee’s suggestion and run with it.

Looking back, I’m deeply proud of how we integrated breastfeeding support into our mission, addressing a critical healthcare need while staying true to our core values of empowerment and consumer care. Today, more than forty percent of the breast pumps used in the United States are produced by Aeroflow Health, and that is a testament to the hard work of our incredible team and the trust we’ve built with consumers.”

Favorite Memory

What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Hite reflected:

“One memory that stands out, coming from the early days of the business, is when Aeroflow began providing pulse oximeters to measure a patient’s pulse and oxygen saturation overnight. It was during this time that Aeroflow implemented one of its first major automation solutions, allowing patients to auto-schedule their orders to be shipped directly to their homes. This innovative step was embraced by a remarkable number of patients, many of whom preferred the convenience over speaking directly with customer service representatives.

This move marked the beginning of an era of exponential automation throughout Aeroflow, setting the stage for the company’s continued evolution. Over the years, the growth of the organization has also fostered internal development, enabling many entry-level employees to advance into leadership positions. Today, a significant portion of Aeroflow’s leadership team consists of individuals who began their careers with the company.”

Core Products

What are the company’s core products and features? Hite explained:

“Aeroflow Health is a pioneering healthcare company that leverages cutting-edge technology to support the delivery of medical products and services. With a steadfast commitment to empowering patients and improving their understanding of benefits, Aeroflow Health provides a curated experience for every individual and group. The company holds an extensive catalog of solutions, including Aeroflow Breastpumps, Aeroflow Diabetes, Aeroflow Sleep and Aeroflow Urology.

The company navigates the complexities of insurance coverage to connect patients with a diverse range of medical devices and comprehensive support. Beyond its product availability, Aeroflow Health also delivers educational resources, consultations and personalized services to patients and healthcare providers. Aeroflow’s focus on direct-to-consumer engagement has enabled us to become a leading, trusted partner in health management.”

Challenges Faced

What challenges have Hite and the team face in building the company? Hite acknowledged:

“Like most companies, the pandemic was an obvious challenge. A large portion of our employees were in the call center. We embraced remote work and still do today. We trusted our employees to do their jobs from home, and they did. It would have sounded crazy five years ago to suggest the scattered call center operation we have today, but it has worked out and made our employees happier and work just as efficiently.”

Evolution Of Aeroflow’s Technology

How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Hite noted:

“Since our launch, our technology has evolved significantly from the early days when I was personally writing the code. As we’ve encountered internal challenges, we’ve developed our own solutions, always aiming to make patients’ lives easier. Our culture of iteration is central to our approach; we continuously refine our technology based on feedback from our front line. This collaborative culture is crucial to our success.

A prime example of our iterative process is our work with Georgia Medicaid. Initially, many individuals knew they were on Medicaid but struggled to determine their specific managed care plan. In response, we developed a technology solution that utilizes text messaging and regular updates with insurance numbers to communicate directly with the insurance company. This innovation has simplified the process for Georgia Medicaid recipients, reducing their frustration and allowing them to focus on their recovery and well-being. Our commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement ensures that we remain responsive to our patients’ needs and enhance their overall experience.”

Significant Milestones

What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Hite cited:

“In 2023, Aeroflow Health surpassed its previous records by serving more than one million patients within 12 months. This past year, we reached over 1,000 employees, and are one of the largest employers in Asheville, NC. We are immensely proud of our contribution to healthcare and the North Carolina economy, and look forward to continuing on our path as one of the fastest growing private companies in the country.”

Customer Success Stories

When asking Hite about the company’s customer success stories, he highlighted:

“Aeroflow has helped guide millions of individuals on their wellness journeys over the past two decades. Our inclusive approach to care goes beyond conventional boundaries, ensuring that every patient receives comprehensive education and unfettered access to essential medical devices and resources, all geared towards enhancing their quality of life.

Our maternal health approach stands out here. As an example, a first-time mom was able to confirm her insurance coverage for breast pump equipment almost immediately after connecting with Aeroflow via our online form. Aeroflow provided her with resources to help her select a breast pump, which she received, along with educational materials on breastfeeding, well before her baby’s arrival. The patient emphasized how the process was stress-free and that without Aeroflow’s guidance, she would have had to pay out of pocket for these necessary items. She breastfed her baby for over a year, crediting Aeroflow’s seamless support and quick delivery.

Because of our approach to health plans, Aeroflow has been able to partner with more than 1,000 different insurance plans. We continually receive feedback from case management teams about the ease-of-use that Aeroflow provides for their patients. Through timely responses to orders, transparency, expeditious delivery of the product, and an overall seamless experience for them and their members, we’ve solidified our reputation as a trusted healthcare companion.”

Funding

When asking Hite about the company’s funding details, he revealed:

“Aeroflow Health achieved revenue of more than $600 million in 2024.”

Total Addressable Market

What total addressable market (TAM) size is the company pursuing? Hite assessed:

“We don’t focus on a set number or predefined market size when it comes to our growth strategy. Instead of planning years in advance or targeting a specific TAM, we prioritize delivering immediate value to our customers—whether they’re patients, providers, or payors. Our approach is centered around continuous iteration and responsiveness. By focusing on solving real-time challenges and enhancing our offerings based on direct feedback, we ensure that we’re meeting the evolving needs of our users. This agile mindset allows us to adapt quickly and effectively, rather than being constrained by a fixed market size or long-term projections.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Hite affirmed:

“We put patients first. When Americans need healthcare, it is usually very stressful for them and their families. The last thing they want to feel like is a number. Their needs come before all else. We work to maximize their access to information and enable them to use state-of-the-art technology to make decisions and receive products.

Beyond the realm of direct patient care, we also actively engage in dismantling legislative and regulatory barriers that obstruct the path to equitable healthcare across the nation. Our dedication to accessible health care and support is woven into the fabric of our mission, driving us to create positive change and foster a healthier future for all.”

Future Company Goals

What are some of the company’s future company goals? Hite concluded:

Our future goal is to remain incredibly focused on our core competencies to support more patients. We realized that we could use technology to take an overwhelming process for patients and make it simple. We’ve served over 1 million patients in a year and our goal is to double that. When we put patients first, and lead with empathy, we can be a part of their health journey and better their lives so that they can experience positive health outcomes.”
