Agerpoint has appointed Michael Gomes as Vice President and General Manager, Intelligent Equipment, a newly created executive role designed to push the company’s spatial intelligence platform directly into agricultural machinery and in field systems. The move signals a sharper commercial focus on embedding Agerpoint’s sensing, analytics, and digital twin capabilities into equipment workflows, where real-time decisions can influence how work gets done on the ground.

Gomes brings more than three decades of experience in digital transformation, precision agriculture, and sustainability initiatives across agriculture and equipment technology. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Global Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility at Topcon Positioning Systems, where he led global teams focused on sustainable practices, automation, and operational outcomes for customers and partners. Before that, he held leadership roles in strategic business development and precision agriculture, with work focused on technologies that enable autonomous systems, sensor integration, and data-driven decision-making. Agerpoint also noted his involvement with industry groups and his track record of fostering collaboration across original equipment manufacturers, technology partners, and agricultural stakeholders.

In the new role, Gomes is expected to define and execute Agerpoint’s intelligent equipment strategy while overseeing the development and commercialization of “equipment embedded” analytics. The objective is to extend Agerpoint’s spatial intelligence beyond software and analytics into machine-level applications that can operate in the field, including precision spraying, variable rate treatments, and other advanced precision agriculture workflows. Agerpoint said Gomes will play a central role in building and scaling the Intelligent Equipment division, working with global OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and automation partners to integrate the platform into autonomous and semi-autonomous equipment systems.

The company positioned the appointment as a response to broader shifts in the precision agriculture market. As sensor-enabled equipment becomes more commercially viable and automation matures beyond early trials, growers and agricultural enterprises are placing more emphasis on solutions that deliver measurable economic outcomes. Agerpoint’s thesis is that the next wave of value will come from closing the loop between sensing and action, where insights are generated and applied quickly enough to change outcomes in the same pass across a field rather than after the work is done.

Agerpoint said the Intelligent Equipment division will focus on integrating its data and analytics stack with equipment systems to support real-time decision support, automated actuation, and scalable commercial deployments for partners and customers. In practice, that means linking field-level intelligence derived from sensing and analytics to equipment behavior, enabling more targeted interventions, better resource efficiency, and improved sustainability reporting at the operational level.

The company is a geospatial intelligence business that applies AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to create digital twins and actionable insights for agriculture, forestry, and nature-based systems. Its platform is positioned to unify field-level and remote sensing with AI and high-performance computing to support decision-making at scale, helping customers optimize operations, demonstrate sustainability, and unlock new value streams.
