Agiloft announced the appointment of Jason Barnwell as Chief Product Officer, bringing to the role a combination of engineering, legal, and enterprise contracting experience as the company continues to expand its AI-driven contract lifecycle management platform.

Barnwell joined Agiloft in December 2025 as Chief Legal Officer and will now oversee product strategy. The company said it does not plan to backfill the CLO position. He succeeds Andy Wishart, who will step down from the role on July 3 after helping establish Agiloft’s product foundation.

Prior to joining Agiloft, Barnwell spent 15 years at Microsoft, most recently serving as General Manager and Associate General Counsel for Monetization and Business Planning within the company’s Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs organization. During his tenure, he led legal operations initiatives and oversaw contract management systems supporting billions of dollars in procurement activity. Earlier in his career, Barnwell worked as a software engineer and practiced law at Cooley, where he advised startups and venture-backed companies.

Agiloft said Barnwell’s experience as an engineer, attorney, and operator gives him a perspective that spans product development and enterprise contracting workflows. Since joining the company, he has played a growing role in shaping Agiloft’s product direction and has described himself as “customer zero,” applying the same standards he used as a practitioner to the company’s offerings.

The appointment comes as Agiloft continues investing in artificial intelligence capabilities through Astra, its AI-native contract intelligence platform. The platform is designed to make contract data searchable and actionable across legal, procurement, finance, and operations teams.

According to Agiloft, structured contract data serves as the foundation for AI-powered analysis and automation, enabling organizations to manage commercial relationships more effectively and derive greater value from contract information.

The company serves enterprise customers across industries, including financial services, healthcare, procurement, and manufacturing, helping organizations manage contracts throughout the entire lifecycle.

KEY QUOTES:

“Contracts are the operating layer of every commercial relationship, and the organizations that can manage them intelligently at scale, with clean data, are going to have a material advantage. I’ve spent my career inside that problem. As an engineer, as an attorney, and as someone who ran contracting infrastructure for a multi-billion-dollar organization, I have a clear picture of what the work actually requires and where the current generation of tools falls short. That’s the lens I’m bringing to Agiloft’s product, and I intend to hold us to it.”

Jason Barnwell, Chief Product Officer, Agiloft

“When Jason described what he wanted to accomplish at Agiloft, he said he felt like he was built in a lab for this role. Having watched him work, he is absolutely right. He is a tinkerer and a builder at heart – someone who still codes, who has been at the forefront of applying AI to legal and contracting work long before it became an industry talking point, and who has practiced law and run a contracting operation at scale most people never see. That combination is exactly what our product organization needs, and it is going to show in what we build.”
