Agora is a leading voice, video, and live broadcasting platform company that has announced it has raised $70 million in Series C funding led by Coatue Management. Existing investors SIG, Morningside, and Shunwei Capital also participated in this round. This brings

“The Internet has steadily transformed the way people communicate over the last decade, but these interactions will continue to shift as technology continues to advance at a rapid pace,” said Agora’s founder and CEO Tony Zhao — who is a founding engineer at WebEx (acquired by Cisco) and former CTO of Chinese social media giant YY.com. “We’re excited to be at the forefront of this movement as Agora continues to disrupt the real-time voice, video and live broadcasting space with solutions that are not only transforming the way we think about real-time engagement but also how it can affect our everyday lives, both online and offline. We are creating a new category of real-time communications, one that puts engagement at the core of the user experience, and we will continue leveraging our unique technology and global reach to further transform this space.”

Founded in 2014, Agora provides a full end-to-end platform of building blocks and capabilities that enable developers to embed real-time voice, video, and interactive low-latency live broadcasting APIs into any web or mobile application. Developers can leverage embedded audio, video and live broadcasting across small and large use cases to increase user engagement and stickiness with real-time low latency video.

Agora’s Software Defined Real Time Network (SD-RTN) also supports global delivery of live video across 200 data centers globally including in remote locations. And it dynamically manages the routing of video to prevent severe packet loss incidents to enable high-quality real-time video delivery around the world.

In September, Agora passed two billion software development kit (SDK) installs — which makes it the most widely adopted RTC-based developer solutions worldwide. And Agora’s SD-RTN processes and routes an average of 10 billion minutes of live communications per month across the distributed data centers.
