By Amit Chowdhry • Yesterday at 3:55 PM

AiFi (eye-Fi) is a leading spatial intelligence company enabling businesses worldwide to track people and objects through space and provides advanced insights that drive profitability, through real-time alerts to improve operations and security, labeled video evidence, and powerful APIs. Pulse 2.0 interviewed AiFi CEO Steve Carlin to learn more about the company.

Steve Carlin’s Background

What is Steve Carlin’s background? Carlin said:

“AiFi is the leading AI provider offering camera-led spatial intelligence solutions that transform physical spaces into actionable insights. We help businesses optimize operations, enhance user experiences, and improve safety by understanding how people and objects interact in 3D environments.”

Formation Of The Company

How did the idea for AiFi come together? Carlin shared:

“The idea for AiFi came together with the vision of using advanced computer vision and AI to transform how businesses leverage physical spaces. Recognizing the limitations of traditional approaches, AiFi initially focused on redefining the retail landscape, providing retailers with the most flexible AI solution, enabling them to affordably deploy and scale autonomous shopping experiences across their businesses. By leveraging computer vision, AiFi seamlessly adapts to existing store formats without relying on shelf sensors, offering advanced tracking algorithms that optimize the shopping experience.”

Evolution Of The Company’s Technology

How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Carlin noted:

“AiFi began with autonomous checkout solutions, achieving over 99% accuracy in retail transactions. Over time, the company expanded its technology to broader spatial intelligence applications. Today, AiFi’s camera-led spatial intelligence platform can capture an entire space, create a 3D model (digital twin), and layer on actionable insights that then allow our customers to make informed decisions across industries, from retail to stadiums and beyond.”

Spatial Intelligence Space

AiFi is leaning towards the Spatial Intelligence space, can you explain more? Carlin explained:

“Spatial intelligence refers to understanding how people and objects move and interact within physical spaces. AiFi’s technology captures these dynamics using camera vision[2]  and creates a real-time 3D digital twin, providing real-time insights for optimizing layouts, managing crowd flows, and improving operational efficiency.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates AiFi from its competition? Carlin affirmed:

“AiFi stands out by focusing on 3D spatial analysis rather than relying on 2D video feeds like most competitors. This approach enables comprehensive contextual understanding, predictive planning, and unparalleled flexibility in solving complex problems, from designing store layouts to managing stadium and factory operations.”

List Of Customers

Who are your customers? Carlin highlighted:

“AiFi serves diverse industries, including retail, sports venues, universities, workplaces, travel hubs, and quick-service restaurants. Notable clients include 17 stadiums globally, such as Intuit Dome for the Los Angeles Clippers, and venues like American Express Stadium in the UK and Parken Stadium in Denmark.”
