Alamo Group has acquired Econ Engineering Group for £120 million, or approximately $158.7 million, expanding its Industrial Equipment portfolio and strengthening its position in the United Kingdom.
The acquisition was funded through Alamo Group’s revolving credit facility.
Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Ripon, North Yorkshire, Econ manufactures equipment used for year-round roadway maintenance. Its products include gritters, de-icing vehicles, road patching and repair equipment, and multi-purpose maintenance vehicles.
Econ’s primary customers include U.K. local authorities, government agencies, and contractors serving public infrastructure markets.
For its fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, Econ generated approximately $88 million in net sales and $38.5 million in adjusted EBITDA.
The transaction expands Alamo’s exposure to infrastructure maintenance markets that benefit from recurring public-sector demand and regulatory requirements. Econ will become part of Alamo Group’s Industrial Equipment Division following completion.
Alamo said the company’s market position, specialized products, customer service capabilities, and financial profile make it complementary to the group’s existing industrial businesses.
The acquisition also provides a larger operating platform in the U.K., creating opportunities for product expansion, operational synergies, and growth beyond Econ’s existing core markets.
Alamo Group manufactures purpose-built industrial and vegetation management equipment used in infrastructure construction and maintenance, industrial operations, agriculture, and other end markets.
D.A. Davidson MCF International served as financial advisor to Alamo Group.
The deal represents another step in Alamo’s strategy of using acquisitions to expand specialized equipment businesses with established brands and recurring customer relationships. Econ’s management team will become part of the broader Alamo organization while continuing to develop its roadway maintenance products and serve U.K. public-sector and contractor customers.
