Alation Expands AIOS With Six Products For AI Governance, Enterprise Context And Agent Management

Alation has expanded its AIOS intelligence operating system with six new products designed to help enterprises govern the data, business context and AI agents underlying their artificial intelligence applications. The company announced AI Governance, Ontologies, Intelligent Feeds, Console, Governed Collections and Semantic Model Mastering at its revAlation user conference in Chicago.

Together, the products extend AIOS beyond traditional data governance into the infrastructure enterprises increasingly need to manage AI agents across multiple systems, models and data environments.

Alation’s approach is based on the premise that many enterprise AI failures are caused less by the quality of individual models than by weak data governance and missing business context.

The company cited Grant Thornton’s 2026 AI Impact Survey of 950 C-suite executives, which found that 78% lacked strong confidence that their organizations could pass an independent AI governance audit within 90 days.

Alation argues that AI agents become unreliable when they do not have access to clearly defined terminology, documented lineage, current policies, trusted sources and high-quality data. In those situations, models may infer business meaning rather than operate from explicitly governed information.

AI Governance is being expanded with agent lineage tracing, allowing organizations to understand the regulatory and compliance risks associated with individual agents and connect those risks to the live data those agents consume.

The product now includes six native connectors spanning Snowflake Cortex, Databricks MLflow, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Bedrock.

Alation said the capability creates a cross-platform registry that continuously connects an agent’s compliance posture with the quality and policy status of its underlying data.

Console provides a single natural-language interface across AIOS. Rather than requiring users to determine which Alation capability they need, Console interprets a request and routes it to the appropriate part of the platform.

Governed Collections is designed to extend AI governance to unstructured enterprise information that may sit outside traditional data catalogs.

Organizations can turn documents including compliance policies, standard operating procedures and business glossaries from systems such as SharePoint, Amazon S3 and Confluence into governed catalog objects.

AI agents can then consume those documents by reference. When an underlying document changes, the agent can access the current version rather than relying on an outdated copy embedded in an application or workflow.

Intelligent Feeds shifts data intelligence from a destination employees must actively visit toward information delivered directly to teams responsible for recurring decisions.

The feeds can combine governed metrics, visualizations, narrative explanations and conversational interfaces, allowing users to explore additional context without moving between separate tools.

Ontologies introduce a new enterprise knowledge object intended to give AI agents a machine-readable understanding of business processes.

Instead of allowing an agent to infer the rules governing a process, enterprises can explicitly define relationships, constraints and business logic in a governed ontology mapped to Alation’s catalog and reviewed by subject-matter experts.

Alation said its ontologies are based on open standards and can be exported for use by different AI agent runtimes.

Semantic Model Mastering addresses another challenge: inconsistent definitions across enterprise analytics and AI systems.

The capability ingests semantic models from Snowflake and Databricks, enriches and governs their definitions inside Alation and then synchronizes those definitions back to the original platforms.

That approach is intended to ensure that concepts such as an “active customer” have a consistent definition across downstream analytics systems and AI agents without forcing teams to manually recreate governance work in each platform.

The six products build on Alation’s roots in enterprise data catalogs and governance. The company is attempting to extend those capabilities into an AI environment where autonomous agents increasingly access data, interpret business rules and take actions across multiple systems.

That shift creates a governance problem different from traditional business intelligence. Organizations need to know not only which data exists and who can access it, but also which agents use that data, what policies apply to those agents and whether the information they rely on remains accurate.

Alation’s broader AIOS strategy is designed around creating a governed intelligence layer that can continuously improve as human users and AI agents provide feedback and generate new knowledge.

New enhancements to AI Governance and Semantic Model Mastering are available now. Ontologies, Intelligent Feeds, Console and Governed Collections are available in early access.

Alation said all six capabilities are included in its all-inclusive pricing model without requiring customers to sign new contracts.
