Alitheon Raises $8 Million Series A1 To Scale Biometrics For Things Across Global Supply Chains

Alitheon, an optical AI company focused on physical-to-digital identity and traceability solutions, announced the closing of an $8 million Series A1 funding round led by Emerald Technology Ventures, with significant participation from eBay Ventures and continued support from existing investors.

The Bellevue, Washington-based company will use the capital to accelerate the global deployment of its FeaturePrint technology, a platform backed by more than 55 issued patents that enables unique item identification without the use of labels, tags, stickers, or other external markers.

Alitheon’s FeaturePrint technology captures the inherent surface characteristics of an object and converts them into a unique digital identity. The company describes the approach as “biometrics for things,” allowing organizations to authenticate and track individual physical items through a standard camera scan. The technology is designed for applications across industrial manufacturing, healthcare products, luxury goods, supply chain management, anti-counterfeiting initiatives, and provenance tracking.

Traditional identification methods such as barcodes, labels, and tags can be damaged, removed, or counterfeited. Alitheon aims to address these challenges by creating a direct link between a physical item and its digital record without adding any physical marker to the product. The company says this approach supports a Zero Trust framework in which every item must be verified through its unique digital fingerprint before being considered authentic.

The funding comes as organizations increasingly seek secure serialization, provenance, and traceability solutions across global supply chains. Alitheon believes its technology can help reduce fraud, combat counterfeit goods, eliminate gray market activities, and improve inventory management and asset tracking.

The company said the investment strengthens its position as a provider of physical-to-digital identity infrastructure and supports its mission of establishing trusted verification and traceability for goods moving through global commerce.

KEY QUOTES:

“Securing support from such powerhouses proves the world is ready for digital-first serialization, provenance, and traceability. We aren’t just identifying goods; we are powering the trust layer of the global economy, providing a level of security that additives and standard AI simply cannot match.”

Roei Ganzarski, CEO, Alitheon

“At Emerald, we look for technologies that solve fundamental industrial challenges at scale. Alitheon’s ability to provide 1-to-1 serialization without the need for labels or tags is a game-changer for global supply chains. By establishing a ‘Zero Trust’ framework for physical goods, Alitheon is providing the essential data integrity required for the future of automated manufacturing and logistics.”

Gina Domanig, Managing Partner, Emerald Technology Ventures

“As recommerce continues to grow, trust and provenance are becoming increasingly important across high-value categories. Alitheon’s ‘biometrics for things’ represents an important step forward in the broader trust infrastructure needed to support more transparent and confident buying and selling experience.”
