Almanac Health: $10 Million Raised For Research-Validated Clinical AI Platform Empowering Clinicians

By Amit Chowdhry • Apr 23, 2026

Almanac Health, a research-validated clinical AI platform focused on evidence-based clinical decision support, has raised $10 million in a seed round led by F-Prime, with participation from General Catalyst and Lightspeed Venture Partners. General Catalyst previously led the company’s pre-seed round, which also included participation from Soma Capital. The new financing brings Almanac Health’s total funding to nearly $12 million.

Founded by physician-researcher Cyril Zakka, Almanac Health is building a unified clinical AI platform designed to deliver specialist-grade knowledge to clinicians directly at the point of care. The system integrates into existing electronic health record systems, operates under institutional governance, and is grounded in peer-reviewed medical evidence. The platform is currently undergoing rigorous clinical validation within academic medical center environments.

Zakka’s background spans clinical practice, academic research, and industry. After earning his MD, he conducted machine learning research at Stanford, where he developed one of the first retrieval-augmented generation systems tailored for clinical medicine. His work, published in NEJM AI, became one of the journal’s most-cited papers and helped establish a widely adopted approach for grounding AI in trusted medical knowledge. He later led health AI efforts at Hugging Face before founding Almanac Health.

The company’s approach emphasizes aligning incentives with clinicians and patients, prioritizing safety, reliability, and rigorous validation before deployment. Its platform aims to address a gap in healthcare AI, where many solutions lack sufficient clinical evidence or trustworthiness.

The new funding will support team expansion across clinical medicine, AI research, and health systems infrastructure, as well as continued investment in research and development, particularly in privacy, system reliability, and evaluation frameworks.

KEY QUOTES:

“There is no shortage of technologies promising to transform medicine. But few are grounded in real evidence, built with integrity and deserving of trust from the people and organizations using them. Almanac Health’s goal is to build clinical AI held to that standard. Validated through research, with incentives aligned with clinicians and patients. We’re focused on getting that right,”

Cyril Zakka, Founder And CEO, Almanac Health

“Cyril is one of the rare founders who has both the clinical training and the technical depth to build AI that clinicians will actually trust as well as the discipline to validate it before deploying it. Almanac Health represents what we believe the next generation of healthcare AI should look like: grounded in research, governed by institutions, and built with incentives that put clinicians and patients first,”

Carl Byers, Partner, F-Prime

“We believe the next generation of healthcare infrastructure will be defined by how effectively it translates frontier intelligence into everyday clinical decisions. Almanac is doing exactly that: building a physician-centric platform that brings trusted, evidence-based intelligence into the workflow, with the alignment and accountability required for true health assurance,”
