alphaXiv: $7 Million Seed Funding Closed To Bridge The AI Research To Practice Divide

By Amit Chowdhry • Nov 20, 2025

alphaXiv has secured a $7 million seed round as the company accelerates its mission to close the widening gap between rapid AI breakthroughs and real-world implementation. The financing was co-led by Menlo Ventures and Haystack with additional participation from Shakti VC, Conviction Embed, and Upfront Ventures. Several prominent angel investors also joined the round, including Eric Schmidt, Sebastian Thrun, Sara Hooker, and Gokul Rajaram.

Founded by graduates of Stanford and Berkeley, alphaXiv builds tools that help research teams, engineers, and industry practitioners navigate the constantly expanding body of knowledge in artificial intelligence. Since its public debut in 2024, the platform has attracted millions of users who use its research discovery and analysis capabilities within their workflows.

The company’s platform is designed to help applied AI teams move from idea to production more efficiently. Its tools enable users to identify relevant academic papers, evaluate new methods against strong baselines, and interact directly with code implementations. This functionality shortens the research adoption cycle from months to days, helping teams rapidly turn academic insights into practical features and products.

alphaXiv has also become an increasingly important resource for global research communities. As breakthroughs emerge each week, the platform provides a shared space for researchers to collaborate across borders and institutions. The company notes a rise in internationally co-authored work, including collaborations between researchers in the United States and China, illustrating how competition and cooperation continue to coexist within the broader AI ecosystem.

Investors believe alphaXiv is well-positioned to shape the future of how people work with research. As AI transformation reshapes industries, the company aims to build the foundational infrastructure that supports a new era of knowledge-driven work.

KEY QUOTES:

“In recent years, AI research has grown exponentially, creating challenges for anyone who wants to stay up to date. Researchers across universities and companies are continually asking what matters most, what’s truly useful and how to apply it effectively. We’re proud to provide the solution.”

Raj Palleti, Co-Founder of alphaXiv

“There has never been a larger audience for research than today. People are looking for new ways to get involved in research that go beyond having a PhD. A decade ago everyone wanted to be a software engineer. Today they want to be a research engineer.”

Sebastian Thrun, Angel Investor

“Every technological revolution is followed by a massive change in what jobs people do. A while ago, many blue collar jobs became white collar jobs. Then, many white collar jobs became software jobs. As AI begins to automate more software, more people will start doing an even higher order of knowledge work: research to expand human knowledge. alphaXiv is building the infrastructure to power that future.”
