Altara, an AI company building a scientific intelligence platform for research and development through manufacturing, has announced $7 million in seed funding led by Greylock, with participation from Neo, BoxGroup, and Liquid 2 Ventures, along with angel investors including Jeff Dean and leadership at OpenAI and AMD.

Altara empowers physical sciences companies in sectors including semiconductors, batteries, and advanced materials to transform fragmented data into actionable intelligence in minutes rather than months. The platform’s AI agents can analyze semiconductor wafer maps, high-resolution inspection data, large-scale sensor and instrument time series data, and unstructured research scattered across legacy systems to help technical teams optimize experimental design, resolve failures faster, and automate end-to-end scientific analysis pipelines.

The company was founded by Eva Tuecke, who previously conducted high-energy particle physics research at Fermilab and worked on Starlink at SpaceX, and Catherine Yeo, who built coding agents at Warp and conducted AI research at IBM Research, Harvard, and MIT. Early customers including Anthro Energy have already deployed the platform to improve how scientists and engineers operate, reducing time spent on analysis and surfacing insights that might otherwise be missed.

Altara combines enterprise-grade security, flexible deployment options, and strict privacy controls for IP-sensitive industries, allowing companies to unlock the value of proprietary data while maintaining ownership and control within their own secure environments.

KEY QUOTES:

“We shouldn’t be building the 21st century with tools from the 20th. Altara is changing that.”

Catherine Yeo, Co-Founder, Altara

“The world’s most innovative companies generate extraordinary amounts of technical data, without a practical way to unlock value from it. The companies that win over the next decade won’t just have the best scientists. They’ll also be powered by the best scientific intelligence.”

Eva Tuecke, Co-Founder, Altara

“Scientific and industrial data is arguably the most valuable untapped asset in the world today. Altara is the first infrastructure built for this moment and will fundamentally change the pace of innovation at frontier companies.”

Corinne Riley, Partner, Greylock
