Alterra Mountain Company is investing more than $350 million across its mountain destinations for the 2026-27 winter season, funding resort expansions, snowmaking, avalanche mitigation, guest amenities and employee housing.

The program continues a multi-year investment strategy across Alterra’s portfolio, with major long-term projects underway at Deer Valley in Utah and Tremblant in Québec.

At Tremblant, Alterra is pursuing a C$42.5 million long-term investment program.

For the 2027-28 winter season, Tremblant plans to open Timber Summit, adding 62 acres of terrain, eight trails and a new high-speed chairlift that is expected to increase hourly lift capacity by 10%.

The project will represent Tremblant’s largest terrain expansion since Versant Soleil opened in the early 2000s.

For 2026-27, Tremblant is also developing a dedicated learning area at the base of Versant Soleil for first-time skiers and snowboarders.

The new area will use gentle terrain and dedicated infrastructure to help beginners progress through their earliest stages on the mountain.

At Deer Valley, Alterra continues what it calls its Expanded Excellence initiative.

Following a major expansion that effectively doubled the resort’s terrain, the Hail Peak Express will add another 200 skiable acres and seven runs for the 2026-27 season.

Those additions will bring Deer Valley to 32 chairlifts and approximately 4,500 skiable acres.

Alterra is also directing capital toward avalanche safety and snowmaking.

Palisades Tahoe is investing $3.2 million in remote avalanche-control systems, including six new Gazex and Gazflex exploders, five Wyssen avalanche towers at Alpine and a CATEX cable system.

Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain are investing $5.7 million in 16 new Remote Avalanche Control Systems.

Solitude is expanding snowmaking after investing more than $5 million during the previous season, while Deer Valley is adding a 10-million-gallon reservoir to expand snowmaking coverage. Winter Park is also continuing a multi-year snowmaking infrastructure rebuild.

The capital program includes guest-experience investments as well.

Stratton is opening a premium Black Bear Pass lounge with slopeside access, a restaurant and bar. CMH Heli-Ski & Summer Adventures is renovating 10 guestrooms at its Valemount Lodge, and Mammoth Mountain will introduce a new restaurant concept called Apricity at The Westin Monache.

Alterra is also continuing to invest in employee housing.

Projects include renovations at Palisades Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain, Snowshoe, Steamboat and Crystal Mountain, along with new employee housing development at Palisades Tahoe and an additional housing property for Sugarbush.
