Alto, a leading self-directed IRA platform specializing in private market and alternative assets, has announced the appointment of Stacy Mauro as Vice President of Engineering. This strategic move comes as Alto seeks to enhance its technological infrastructure to accommodate the rapidly increasing demand from investors for access to private markets and alternative investment opportunities.

In her new role, Mauro will supervise all aspects of Alto’s engineering organization, which encompasses software development, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and quality assurance. One of her key objectives will be to refine Alto’s technical strategy and platform architecture, ensuring that security measures and compliance regulations are integrated seamlessly into every layer of the platform. This focus will help mitigate risks while enhancing the overall user experience. Furthermore, Mauro will play a critical role in facilitating enterprise integrations across various alternative asset platforms, as well as coordinating efforts with Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and fund managers to streamline operations and improve service offerings.

Stacy Mauro brings a wealth of experience as a seasoned engineering executive, having worked in both startup environments and with established global fintech leaders. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Engineering at Atticus, where she played a key role in scaling the engineering team and operational capabilities from Series A to Series C funding rounds. Her previous experience includes senior engineering leadership roles at PayPal and Honey, where she managed the complex integration of Honey following its $4 billion acquisition by PayPal. Mauro’s technical expertise and strategic insight have been honed over years of driving innovation and efficiency in technology teams. She began her career at Illuminate Education, where she played a pivotal role in building engineering and data teams during a period of rapid growth and expansion, demonstrating her ability to lead in fast-paced environments.

Mauro’s appointment is part of a broader strategy by Alto to strengthen its leadership team, following a series of key hires across several functions, including finance, legal, product development, and marketing. These new leaders will work collaboratively to enhance Alto’s platform capabilities, forge robust industry partnerships, and implement initiatives aimed at making alternative investing more accessible and transparent for a wider audience. Ultimately, Alto’s mission is to align its offerings with the long-term financial goals of its investors, ensuring a sustainable and equitable approach to alternative investments.
