ALTR: $5 Million Seed Raised For Alcohol Removal Technology

By Amit Chowdhry • Jul 10, 2025

ALTR, a beverage technology company, has raised $5 million in seed funding to commercialize its innovative alcohol removal technology. Its proprietary “Flavor-First” process creates premium low-alcohol drinks that maintain a whole sensory experience. The funding round was led by French investment fund Demeter, with participation from Suntory Global Spirits, Techmind, AZ Venture Capital Inc., FTW Ventures, Bluestein Ventures, Solvable, and Xinomavro.

ALTR’s proprietary Flavor-First technology effectively removes alcohol while preserving the flavor, structure, and mouthfeel of beverages. Designed for precision at a molecular level, this non-destructive method initially targets the wine industry, allowing for the creation of premium low-alcohol products that honor traditional winemaking.

How the funding will be used: The funding will accelerate product development and expand ALTR’s partnerships with some of the world’s best wineries as consumer demand for mindful drinking options continues to surge.
