Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Tom Parkinson as a Managing Director in its Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice, based in London, as the firm continues to build out its European capabilities supporting private equity clients on complex carve-outs and integrations.
Parkinson joins from EY-Parthenon, where he served as an Equity Partner in the private equity team. He specializes in carve-out due diligence and separation execution for operationally complex transactions, as well as identifying and realizing synergies during merger integrations. In his new role, he will sit within A&M’s Carve-out and Merger Integration team inside the broader PEPI practice, with responsibilities spanning pre-deal diligence, execution support and post-deal value creation.
A&M said Parkinson’s hire is its fifth PEPI Managing Director addition in the past six months. Recent appointments include Simon Oertel and Pierre de Raismes in September, Javier Hernando Guijarro in December, and David Perez in June to lead financial services and healthcare sector work for private equity clients across Europe.
Firm leaders pointed to carve-outs as one of the most demanding transaction types for investors, requiring detailed planning, operational rigor and a strong understanding of separation and transformation levers. They said Parkinson’s background in large-scale carve-outs and integration programs will strengthen A&M’s ability to support clients from diligence through implementation and longer-term performance improvement.
