Aman Gottumukkala has announced that he is joining SpaceX and xAI to help build advanced, code-focused artificial intelligence systems.
Prior to this move, Gottumukkala was the founder of FireBender, a company focused on building what it described as one of the most powerful AI assistants for Android developers. The platform functioned as a coding agent designed to streamline development workflows, and it gained significant traction among developers, ultimately scaling to millions in revenue with a lean team.
Gottumukkala said that over the past few years he founded one of the most widely used coding agents for Android, scaling it to millions in revenue with a small team. His move comes amid rapid advancements in AI model capabilities, which he described as compounding at a “staggering rate.”
He emphasized that the industry is approaching what he views as a critical inflection point, with the potential emergence of recursive superintelligence. According to Gottumukkala, solving this challenge will require significant resources, positioning xAI as a key player due to its access to frontier compute, engineering talent, and integration with physical systems and space infrastructure.
Gottumukkala also indicated that xAI is actively recruiting, encouraging others interested in tackling major AI challenges to reach out as the company builds its team.
Below is an announcement from Aman
I'm joining @SpaceX and @xai to build the best coding AI.
For the last couple years I founded the most widely used coding agent for Android, scaling it to millions in revenue with a team of 3.
I've watched model capabilities compound at a staggering rate and we're clearly on…
