Amazon Day: Prime Customers Can Select A Day For Receiving Packages

Amazon is now offering an option for Prime customers in the U.S. to select which day of the week as the default that they want to receive packages. The day of the week can be changed during the checkout process. This feature is known as Amazon Day.

When Amazon Day is selected, the items will be bundled in one package — which will save boxes in and make deliveries more predictable at the same time. This feature could also potentially prevent package theft as you can ensure that you would be home on that day.

Amazon Day would also likely help the online retail giant save on significantly save on shipping costs. Many analysts believe that Amazon increased the cost of the Prime membership fee from $99 to $119 to help pay for substantial shipping costs.

Originally, Amazon Day was introduced in November as part of an invite-only program. And the concept was put together as part of Amazon’s “Shipment Zero” sustainability goals, which is aiming to make Amazon’s shipments carbon neutral. And the goal is to make half of its shipments carbon neutral by 2030.

“Amazon Day adds another level of convenience to the many shipping benefits Prime members already enjoy. Prime members can now choose to get their orders delivered together in fewer boxes whenever possible on the day that works best for them,” said Amazon VP of Delivery Experience Maria Renz. “We’ve been testing this program with a group of Prime members and Amazon Day has already reduced packaging by tens of thousands of boxes – a number that will only continue to grow now that the program is available to Prime members nationwide.”
