Amca, a Los Angeles-based aerospace and defense company, has acquired Aerospace Control Products, Inc. (ACPI), a Davenport, Iowa, manufacturer known for flight-critical pressure and liquid-level switches, as the buyer continues to build out a broader hydraulics-focused components platform. The transaction adds custom pressure measurement capabilities and expands Amca’s presence in hydraulic components used across major commercial aircraft programs.
ACPI, founded in 1979 by Bill Stout and Ron Lawson, designs and manufactures pressure switches and related sensing components used in flight-critical applications. Amca said ACPI’s products are used on high-volume aircraft platforms, including the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 MAX, and that the acquisition supports its strategy to strengthen supply of hard-to-procure aerospace-grade components.
Amca said it plans to invest significantly in ACPI’s manufacturing footprint to expand capacity and improve availability for customers facing ongoing procurement constraints. The company also noted that Shedd Capital advised on the transaction. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Under the deal, Aaron Ellis, who joined ACPI in 1998 and later acquired the company from its founders, will remain involved in leadership as the business integrates into Amca. The acquisition follows Amca’s earlier purchase of Cal Draulics and aligns with the company’s stated approach of acquiring specialized suppliers and scaling their ability to design, qualify, and manufacture critical components more quickly.
Amca launched earlier in 2025 with $76.5 million in initial funding and has pursued a build-and-buy strategy focused on targeted aerospace and defense component categories.
