Amca Acquires Electrocube To Expand Into Power Electronics

Amca, an El Segundo-based aerospace and defense company, announced it has acquired Electrocube of Pomona, California, from two of its founding families in a deal that adds flight-critical power electronics to its expanding capabilities. Shedd Capital served as advisor on the transaction.

The acquisition strengthens Amca’s strategy of acquiring legacy aerospace and defense suppliers and equipping them to rapidly design, qualify, and manufacture components that reduce supply chain risk and accelerate time-to-field across the industry. During its first year of ownership, Amca plans to invest significantly in expanding Electrocube’s engineering team and product catalog.

For decades, Electrocube has been one of Boeing’s most trusted partners, serving as a key supplier of transformers for more than 35 different use cases across nearly every commercial aircraft platform. Out of more than 5,000 direct suppliers to Boeing, Electrocube ranks in the top 20 in the company’s annual rankings for quality, on-time delivery, and responsiveness.

Electrocube was founded in 1961 by three World War II veterans: Lang Parrill, Roland Duquette, and Charles Wieland. Over the following decades, the company established itself as an industry leader, supplying transformers, TRUs, capacitors, and EMI filters to major aerospace and defense customers, including Honeywell and GE.

In the 1990s, when their fathers were ready to retire, Clay Parrill and Don Duquette stepped in to lead the family business. Under their stewardship, Electrocube grew more than eleven-fold and became a top Boeing supplier.

Amca said Electrocube’s heritage and reputation provide a strong foundation for its new power electronics division. The company was founded to address what it sees as increasing fragility in the aerospace and defense supply base by eliminating single points of failure and enabling rapid design and production of critical components optimized for advanced and high-volume systems. With Electrocube’s established customer relationships and expertise in power electronics, Amca aims to further support customers across the aerospace and defense ecosystem.
