AMD, Cisco, And HUMAIN Bring MI355X AI Systems Live In Saudi Arabia With Up To 1 GW Planned By 2030

AMD, Cisco, and HUMAIN have brought production AI infrastructure online in Saudi Arabia using AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs, AMD EPYC CPUs and Cisco Silicon One-based networking, marking the first operational phase of a much larger buildout that could reach 1 GW of AI infrastructure by 2030.

The deployment is now serving HUMAIN customers in Saudi Arabia and other markets.

The production environment combines AMD’s MI355X accelerators and EPYC CPUs with Cisco’s networking infrastructure, including Cisco Silicon One, Cisco 800G optics and the Cisco N9000 Series platform.

The architecture is designed to support high-performance GPU-as-a-service workloads ranging from large-scale model training to inference.

The launch represents a major step in the companies’ previously announced effort to build an open AI infrastructure platform in Saudi Arabia.

The next stage is considerably larger.

AMD, Cisco and HUMAIN plan to deploy up to 250 MW of additional AI infrastructure beginning in 2027 using AMD Instinct MI400 Series GPUs, EPYC CPUs, ROCm software and Cisco networking and critical infrastructure. Capacity from that phase is expected to begin coming online in the second half of 2027.

Driven by customer demand, the companies said their joint venture remains on track to deploy as much as 1 GW of AI infrastructure by 2030.

The scale of the planned buildout reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader push to establish domestic AI computing capacity while making that infrastructure available to enterprises, governments, AI developers and research organizations across the region.

The companies are positioning the platform around sovereign AI requirements.

Customers are expected to have greater control over where data resides, how AI models are customized and how workloads are deployed and governed.

AMD’s open ROCm software ecosystem and Cisco’s interoperable networking architecture are intended to provide a foundation that can support different AI models and applications rather than tying customers to a single closed software stack.

That structure is also designed to support AI systems tailored to local languages, cultures, regulatory requirements and national priorities.

HUMAIN, a company backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, operates across data centers, AI cloud infrastructure, models and industry-specific AI applications.

The production launch gives HUMAIN live access to AMD’s latest-generation accelerator infrastructure while establishing a path toward significantly larger deployments using upcoming MI400 systems.

For AMD, the project represents a large-scale international deployment opportunity for its Instinct accelerator roadmap.

For Cisco, it provides an opportunity to supply the high-bandwidth networking layer connecting increasingly large GPU clusters.

And for Saudi Arabia, the initiative creates additional domestic AI compute capacity intended to support both local economic development and international customers seeking sovereign infrastructure alternatives.
