American Healthcare REIT Names Aric Chang As Chief Financial Officer

American Healthcare REIT has appointed Aric Chang as Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1, 2026, bringing in a real estate finance executive who has overseen approximately $16 billion of capital deployment at Public Storage.

Chang succeeds Brian Peay, who is retiring following 10 years as CFO. Peay will remain in the role through September 30 to support the transition.

Chang joins American Healthcare REIT from S&P 500 company Public Storage, where he serves as Chief Financial Officer, Real Estate.

At Public Storage, Chang leads real estate and corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, investment underwriting and real estate data analytics.

During his tenure, he has overseen approximately $16 billion across acquisitions, development, lending and M&A.

His real estate career spans more than two decades across public REITs, private equity, investment management and research.

Before Public Storage, Chang held senior roles at Rexford Industrial and Rouse Properties. At Rouse, he managed corporate finance and debt restructuring before the company’s acquisition by Brookfield.

Earlier, he worked in REIT research at Green Street Advisors and Oak Hill REIT Management.

Chang also spent seven years at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he was an Executive Director and member of the real estate investment committee for a platform with more than $80 billion of real estate assets under management.

At AHR, Chang will lead a finance organization supporting the REIT’s senior housing, skilled nursing and outpatient medical building portfolio across the U.S., U.K. and Isle of Man.

He will work with an established finance leadership team that includes Kenny Lin, Executive Vice President, Deputy CFO and Chief Accounting Officer; Charlynn H. Diapo, Senior Vice President, Accounting & Finance; and Alan Peterson, Vice President, Investor Relations & Finance.
