Ampa announced an oversubscribed financing round to accelerate the rollout of its FDA-cleared Ampa One transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) system, which is already in use by clinics across more than 30 U.S. states. The company also announced that it secured regulatory approval in Israel, supporting plans for international expansion.
Founded by researcher Jonathan Downar, Ampa developed a portable TMS platform designed to make depression treatment more accessible for clinics. The Ampa One system costs approximately $3,000 per month, fits in the trunk of a car, and can reportedly be operated after only a few hours of training.
TMS has been FDA-cleared for treatment-resistant depression since 2008, but traditional systems have often been too large, expensive, and operationally complex for many providers to adopt. Ampa said its system addresses those barriers through portable hardware, a lightweight handheld coil, camera-guided targeting, pre-printed neuronavigation caps, high-throughput capacity, and subscription-based pricing.
According to the company, demand for the platform has doubled every quarter.
This latest financing round was led by investors including Morningside Ventures, Trimera Capital, Neta Foundation, Jake Collective, and Tim Ferriss. Ampa said the financing brings the company’s total funding to more than $25 million.
Don Vaughn, PhD, CEO and neuroscientist at Ampa, said the company’s platform is making it easier for clinics to adopt TMS therapy.
“We believe the Ampa One device is the simplest way for clinics to add TMS to their offerings,” Vaughn explained. “It can be used anywhere, by practically any licensed professional, at a fraction of the typical cost. Demand has doubled every quarter, and this most recent funding will help us meet this accelerating demand.”
Ferriss, who participated in the financing, described Ampa as a potentially transformative platform for psychiatric care.
He noted that he has personally received TMS treatments and followed the technology for nearly two decades.
Radial Co-Founder Owen Muir said the company views Ampa as a major advancement for brain medicine therapies. Radial operates clinics nationwide that offer treatments including Spravato, TMS, and neurofeedback.
Melissa Floren Filippone, CEO of Jake Collective, said the organization sees Ampa’s technology as a way to broaden access to mental health tools for people facing significant mental health challenges.
Ampa said it will continue expanding adoption among mental health clinics as it scales distribution of the Ampa One platform.

“I’ve received TMS treatments myself, I’ve tracked the technology for almost 20 years, and Ampa is poised to offer the iPhone of the field. It’s the first device I’ve seen that could legitimately scale to help millions of people. I’ve personally experienced One-Day TMS treatments that have taken my symptoms from a 9 out of 10 in severity to a 1, lasting a minimum of 3-4 months. Nothing else I’ve tried comes close to that durability. It’s a glimpse of the future of psychiatry.”
