Ampersand Raises $15 Million Series A To Expand Integration Enterprise Infrastructure Connecting AI Agents

Ampersand raised $15 million in Series A funding, led by Bessemer Venture Partners, to expand its integration infrastructure connecting AI agents with enterprise systems of record. Existing investors Matrix and Flex Capital participated alongside new investors Yelp, Tenacity Capital, CTO Fund, Mana Ventures, and several individual investors. Bessemer partner Lauri Moore will join Ampersand’s Board.

Ampersand is focused on enabling AI-native applications to read from and write into enterprise CRM, ERP and other systems.

The company sees integrations with older and heavily customized business systems as a major impediment preventing AI software from moving from demonstrations into production enterprise deployments.

Ampersand’s infrastructure is designed to account for differences in custom fields, objects, permissions and workflows within each customer’s deployment.

The platform then provides agents with the context required to take bidirectional actions within those systems.

Ampersand also announced the beta launch of Andi, an AI integration agent designed to help developers complete implementation work required to deploy their applications within customer environments.

The company combines software infrastructure with integration expertise and forward-deployed support.

Ampersand was founded by Ayan Barua and Lauren Long.

Barua previously co-founded Siftery, which was acquired by G2, before serving as Vice President of Engineering at G2.

Long previously built Firebase Extensions at Google, connecting Firebase applications with third-party APIs at a scale reaching billions of executions per day.

The founders spoke with more than 100 companies developing integrations before launching Ampersand.

KEY QUOTES:

“With Ampersand, we’re able to serve new customers that were previously unavailable to us because of their complex integration requirements. Now we’ve expanded our total addressable market without taking on months of maintenance headaches.”

John Pena, CTO at Hatch

“We’re in this fascinating moment where AI has the potential to transform the enterprise, but CTOs are still faced with the old problem of systems of record. Our bet is that the saasapocalypse is overstated and systems of record like Salesforce and NetSuite aren’t going anywhere. Ampersand is designed to sit between these two generations of software and make them legible to each other.”

Ayan Barua, Co-Founder and CEO of Ampersand

“An agent is only as useful as the systems it can reach. MCP enables agents to describe a tool. It didn’t address what happens at runtime, when tokens expire, schemas drift, and every customer’s Salesforce looks a little different. Connecting an agent to a system of record is a demo. Keeping that connection alive across hundreds of customers, with writes you can’t afford to get wrong, is much harder. That’s what Ampersand is building.”
