Amtech Systems has named semiconductor industry veteran Guy Shechter as its President and Chief Operating Officer, effective May 19, 2026. The Tempe, Arizona-based manufacturer of equipment and consumables enabling AI semiconductor device packaging said Shechter will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer in the newly created role.
Shechter brings a career built entirely within the semiconductor equipment and advanced packaging sectors. He most recently served at Yield Engineering Systems from 2021 to 2026, where he rose to Senior Vice President and General Manager. Prior to that, he spent over a decade at Veeco Instruments from 2007 to 2020, holding several leadership positions including Vice President and General Manager of Global Services Solutions.
Shechter holds both an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Technion — Israel Institute of Technology, one of the world’s leading research universities in engineering and applied sciences. His academic background and decades of hands-on industry experience span commercial and general management roles with semiconductor and advanced packaging equipment companies.
Amtech said the appointment comes as the company looks to capitalize on its leadership position in AI semiconductor device packaging and assembly applications while expanding its portfolio of solutions. The company serves semiconductor device and module manufacturers worldwide, with particular focus on markets across Asia, North America, and Europe.
