Anchorage Capital Advisors: $1.5 Billion Raised for Credit Opportunities

By Amit Chowdhry • Aug 20, 2025

Anchorage Capital Advisors, an investment firm with $26.1 billion focused on global credit markets, has successfully closed the Anchorage Credit Opportunities Fund IX. This fund has received $1.5 billion in commitments, exceeding its target of $1.25 billion.

The fund attracted strong support from both new and returning investors, with over 70% of the funding coming from previous partners. Co-Portfolio Managers Thibault Gournay and James Frost lead this fund, which seeks to identify unique investment opportunities arising from market changes, motivated sellers, or urgent financial needs.

Fund IX invests in stressed and distressed credit, special situations, structured credit, and other assets in the U.S. and Europe. It focuses on companies with smaller capital structures that may involve more complexity.

Since early 2022, Anchorage has raised more than $4.5 billion in commitments across its investment platform and has been actively investing in collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), drawdown funds, co-investments, and evergreen funds.

KEY QUOTES:

“We are excited about the momentum ACO IX has generated early on in its investment period. The current investing environment, driven by elevated rates, policy uncertainty, and geopolitical conflict has created what we believe is a compelling opportunity set. We believe that these dynamics, coupled with the ACO funds’ time-tested, versatile approach, positions us well to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns to our investors.”

“We are grateful for the trust our Limited Partners have placed in our firm and believe our extensive experience through multiple credit cycles over the past 20-plus years, combined with our nimble investment approach, breadth of our platform, and deep and talented team will enable us to continue to execute on our investors’ behalf.”
