Andela Acquires Woven To Bolster Technical Assessments for AI Engineers

Andela has acquired Woven, a technical assessment company known for real-world engineering scenarios, structured scoring rubrics, and AI-enabled evaluation, as the talent marketplace provider looks to strengthen how it measures AI fluency and predicts on-the-job performance for engineers.

The deal is intended to accelerate Andela’s product roadmap and expand its ability to match companies with “AI-native” engineering talent as enterprises move from experimentation to production deployment. Andela said integrating Woven’s content library, scoring technology, and team into its platform will help customers identify the right engineers for different stages of building and operating AI systems.

As part of the acquisition, Woven CEO and founder Wes Winham Winler will join Andela to lead the development of next-generation assessments designed to predict performance in both AI-assisted software development and AI system creation. Andela framed the effort around three emerging archetypes of AI-native engineers: builders who turn requirements into working LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic components; integrators who connect models, data, and tools into multi-step autonomous workflows; and scalers who focus on reliability, compliance, governance, and risk as systems operate in production.

Andela said Woven adds a comprehensive library of scenarios aligned to job functions, the ability to generate new scenarios with AI assistance, and AI-driven scoring designed to improve accuracy and consistency at scale. The company also said Woven’s team will help speed development of its assessment roadmap.

Woven’s technology is built on top of Andela’s previously acquired Qualified platform, which Andela described as a foundation for building assessments. The combined stack is positioned as a unified approach for scalable, AI-powered assessments across engineering domains, enabling Andela to benchmark its global network and provide companies with more precise matches.

Andela said its marketplace includes more than 150,000 technology professionals spanning over 135 countries and supports enterprises across application development, AI, cloud and DevOps, and data engineering, among other areas.
