Anima: Care Enable Platform Raises $12 Million

Anima – a next-generation care enablement platform – announced it raised $12 million in Series A funding. This funding round was led by Molten Ventures, with participation from existing investors Hummingbird Ventures, Amino Collective, Y Combinator, and new angel investors, including Sidar Sahin (founder of Peak Games).

This funding round marks a major milestone for Anima, which is looking to redefine how healthcare teams deliver care through a clinical operating system. This funding round will enable the company to accelerate the deployment to tens of millions of patients and healthcare professionals worldwide.

Anima launched its first paying clinics in September 2022. It is now deployed in over 150 NHS clinics in England, providing care to over 1.3 million people. In the winter of 2021, the company participated in the Y Combinator accelerator program. Following a product release in December 2023, Anima has already halved the time practices spent coding, processing, and filing documents.

This year, the company will release the next version of the software (Anima 1.5), which will enable unprecedented automation of front- and back-office workloads and greater data interoperability to support digital integrated care in multiple geographies.

Anima 2.0 – a high-level abstraction for healthcare and life sciences powered by Annie (the company’s proprietary deep-learning healthcare system and clinical co-pilot) is part of a longer-term vision and aims to democratize deep phenotyping and personalized medicine across the whole healthcare domain. Not only will this transform patient outcomes and clinic workflows, but it will also position Anima favorably to unify healthcare and life science pipelines into a single platform.

KEY QUOTES:

“Software and artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare is a rapidly growing multi-$bn sector, but many solutions take time to integrate and realise their potential.”

“A key reason why Anima is growing rapidly, is because they can directly and immediately have an impact: to improve operations and efficiency to benefit patients, healthcare teams and healthcare systems. This team understands the relevant workflows, the needs of patients and healthcare workers, and is building a large, scalable engine for change.”
