Anthropic announced that Chris Liddell has been appointed to its Board of Directors, adding a veteran executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience across global corporations and public service roles.

Liddell previously served as chief financial officer of Microsoft, General Motors, and International Paper. He also held the role of Deputy White House Chief of Staff during President Trump’s first term. In addition to his corporate leadership background, Liddell currently serves as a director of Commonwealth Fusion Systems and the Council on Foreign Relations. He has participated in several presidential transition teams, authored a book on the topic, and previously served as Director of the American Technology Council in the White House, where he focused on modernizing government technology.

Beyond his business and government roles, Liddell has been recognized for contributions to business and philanthropy. He serves as chairman of New Zealand’s largest environmental foundation and has held board roles with several nonprofit organizations, including the New Zealand Rugby Union. In 2016, he was appointed a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business and philanthropy.
