Anthropic announced the beta launch of Claude Tag, a new way for teams to work with Claude directly in Slack. Claude Tag allows teams to add Claude to selected Slack channels, grant it access to approved tools, data, and codebases, and tag @Claude to delegate tasks.
The feature is available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers.
Anthropic said Claude Tag is designed to make Claude more proactive and collaborative, expanding on the evolution of Claude Code by enabling the model to work with full teams.
Within a Slack channel, one Claude can interact with everyone in that channel, making work visible to the team and allowing users to continue conversations from where others left off.
Claude Tag can build context over time by remembering relevant information from the channels where it has been granted access. The company said Claude does not report from private channels.
The system can also be configured for ambient behavior, allowing Claude to proactively surface relevant information from connected tools and channels, follow up on unresolved tasks, and keep teams updated.
Claude Tag is also designed for asynchronous work. Users can assign tasks and continue focusing on other priorities while Claude works through the request. Claude can also schedule tasks for itself and work autonomously over hours or days.
Anthropic said its internal version of Claude Tag is already widely used across the company. Today, 65% of the Anthropic product team’s code is created by its internal version of Claude Tag.
The company said use cases have expanded beyond engineering, including product metrics, data analysis, support tickets, and debugging.
Administrators can control which tools and information Claude can access in specific channels. Claude identities, permissions, and memories can be scoped to the channels defined by administrators.
Administrators can also set spending limits for token usage at the organization and channel levels and view logs of Claude activity, including who requested each task.
Claude Tag replaces the existing Claude in Slack app. Administrators can opt in to migrate within 30 days.
Anthropic said eligible Enterprise and Team organizations will receive an introductory launch credit to test Claude Tag across their companies. Claude Tag works with Opus 4.8.
