Antin Acquires Majority Stake In HP Helicopters

Antin Infrastructure Partners acquired a significant majority stake in High Performance Helicopters through its €1.2 billion NextGen Infrastructure Fund I. HP Helicopters is a specialty helicopter operator focused on utility infrastructure, construction, and aerial firefighting services.

The company was founded in 2005 by Brad and Tracey Bauder and is based in Redlands, California.

Its fleet currently serves customers across 10 states in the western U.S.

Customers include state and federal government agencies, utilities, engineering, procurement and construction firms, and aerospace and defense companies.

Antin said helicopters are becoming increasingly important for wildfire response and utility infrastructure work because they can carry heavy payloads and access difficult terrain.

HP Helicopters has benefited from increasing demand in both areas.

More frequent wildfire emergencies are creating additional demand for specialized firefighting aircraft.

At the same time, utilities are investing in aging infrastructure, electrification, grid expansion, and infrastructure required to support growing electricity demand associated with artificial intelligence.

Antin plans to help HP Helicopters expand its fleet, improve operating efficiencies, and increase its use of long-term exclusive-use customer contracts.

The investment represents the eighth transaction completed by Antin’s NextGen Infrastructure Fund I.

NextGen focuses on companies with established technologies and business models that require significant capital and operational expertise to scale into larger infrastructure platforms.

Brad Bauder will retain a minority ownership position following the transaction.
