ANV Acquires Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions To Expand U.S. Workers’ Compensation Platform

ANV Group Holdings Ltd. announced the completion of its acquisition of Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions (SCIS) from Specialty Program Group, a subsidiary of Hub International.

The acquisition strengthens ANV’s U.S. specialty insurance capabilities by adding a Texas-based managing general agent focused on hard-to-place monoline workers’ compensation insurance. SCIS specializes in middle-market accounts and underserved risks within the standard insurance market.

SCIS generated approximately $250 million in gross written premium during 2025 and manages a diversified portfolio across industries including construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and temporary staffing. The company is supported by a team of experienced underwriting professionals with extensive expertise in specialty workers’ compensation.

The acquisition aligns with ANV’s strategy of building a diversified workers’ compensation platform in the United States. SCIS will join Risico, ANV’s California-based agricultural workers’ compensation MGA, helping the company expand its presence across program underwriting, wholesale distribution, and specialty workers’ compensation niches.

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, SCIS employs 20 people and is led by a veteran executive team. Leadership includes Steve Math, Executive Vice President; Alan Wynn, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Underwriting Officer; Matthew Feury, Senior Vice President of Underwriting; and Mike Beck, Senior Vice President and Field Underwriting Officer. Collectively, the management team brings decades of experience in underwriting, actuarial science, and program management.

Adam Karkowsky, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ANV, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s position in the workers’ compensation market and enhances its ability to serve difficult-to-place risks across the United States.

Chris Treanor, President and CEO of Specialty Program Group, said the sale was made after careful consideration and that ANV’s capacity relationship with AmTrust and aligned business philosophy made it the right long-term home for SCIS, its employees, broker partners, and insureds.

KEY QUOTES:

“Adding SCIS alongside Risico, our existing workers comp business, establishes ANV as a leading provider of middle-market workers comp with diversified underwriting expertise and a go-to option for hard-to-place risks. Together these businesses form the foundation of a differentiated workers’ compensation platform with real depth across the U.S. market.”

Adam Karkowsky, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, ANV

“Parting with SCIS is not a decision we took lightly — we very rarely sell businesses. However, faced with a unique set of circumstances, we determined that a sale to ANV was the right path forward for our insureds, broker partners, and employees. ANV’s deep capacity relationship with AmTrust and closely aligned philosophy gave us confidence in this decision, and we look forward to supporting them as a trusted trading partner.”
