Zebra Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Zebra Technologies, has made a strategic investment in Apera AI, a Vancouver-based provider of 4D Vision systems for industrial robots. The investment reinforces Zebra’s focus on digitizing and automating workflows for manufacturing and logistics organizations. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Apera AI’s 4D Vision system equips robots with real-time visual intelligence, enabling them to locate, identify, and manipulate complex parts in dynamic, unstructured factory environments. The platform uses light-resilient stereo vision and AI models to function reliably under shifting conditions including changing lighting, worn grippers, complex part geometry, and overlapping or reflective components. Adaptive vision is trained in virtual simulation environments, enabling deployment with minimal engineering time and reducing automation friction for manufacturers.

The investment complements Zebra’s existing vision and automation portfolio, which includes Photoneo, a 3D-based imaging company acquired in 2025, as part of the company’s Connected Factory framework. With Zebra Ventures’ backing, Apera AI will expand its ability to support customers requiring fast, scalable deployments in complex or variable manufacturing environments.
