Apex Raises $200 Million Series D To Scale Satellite Production and Support Next-Generation Constellations

Apex Space has secured $200 million in a Series D financing round led by Interlagos, pushing its valuation above the billion-dollar mark. This latest investment underscores the company’s rapid growth and reinforces its position as a preferred partner for both commercial operators and government agencies deploying large satellite constellations.

Founded to mass-produce configurable satellite bus platforms, Apex has demonstrated its ability to build reliable hardware at unprecedented speed. The company’s satellite buses serve as the core structure and systems for spacecraft, handling everything from power management to communications. With proven designs already operating successfully in orbit, Apex is meeting surging customer demand across applications in global connectivity, Earth observation, and national security missions.

Momentum has accelerated sharply since the close of Apex’s Series C round just months earlier. Global constellations moving into production have created urgent needs for large volumes of spacecraft, and Apex’s standardized, modular approach allows it to deliver at the scale required.

The new funding will directly support efforts to expand manufacturing throughput and deepen the company’s technical capabilities for future programs.

A key element of Apex’s growth strategy is vertical integration of critical subsystems. By bringing avionics, power systems, and propulsion components in-house, the company gains tighter control over quality, cost, and delivery timelines. A significant boost came with the acquisition of Phase Four’s Hall-effect thruster technology, which will accelerate the production of in-house propulsion units and reduce dependence on external suppliers for a core satellite function.

To unlock this increased production capability, Apex has arranged to more than double its Los Angeles headquarters campus. A newly leased 55,000-square-foot facility adjacent to its existing factory will bring total manufacturing space to over 100,000 square feet. This larger footprint will enable a 50 percent increase in output while also providing dedicated areas for research and development, system integration, and payload testing.

On the product front, Apex has introduced Comet, its most potent and scalable satellite bus to date, engineered for high-performance commercial and defense constellations. Earlier in the year, the company celebrated the one-year on-orbit success of its inaugural Aries spacecraft, confirming the reliability of its productized manufacturing approach. The development of additional platforms, such as GEO Aries and Nova, continues, supported by a steady influx of capital.

How the funding will be used: The Series D will also fund the expansion of engineering teams, the enhancement of mission services offerings, and the establishment of new global sales channels. By scaling production facilities and integrating key technologies internally, Apex aims to meet the aggressive delivery schedules of modern constellation deployments without compromising on quality or reliability.

KEY QUOTES:

“From day one, Apex has been about rapidly scaling satellite production to support future constellations. This new funding allows us to do exactly that—expanding our production capacity to better serve our government and commercial partners as they deploy spacecraft at scale. Whether supporting a global connectivity network or a critical national security mission like Golden Dome, Apex is ready to deliver reliable, rapidly deployable spacecraft that make these constellations possible.”

Ian Cinnamon, CEO and co-founder of Apex

“Apex is accelerating one of the most important shifts in the space industry today by architecting a solution for customers building modern, proliferated constellations. Apex’s focus on production rate and scale is critical for both national security missions and high-performance commercial constellations. Our partnership with Apex started nearly 3 years ago—leading this Series D today enables us to further accelerate the business as the company expands its technical and commercial capabilities globally.”
